Berkshire Schools Track and Field Championships

Event Date:

Saturday, June 8, 2024

Results from the competition attached. Well done to all athletes that competed and the teachers that helped officiate.

Updated timetable for saturday's event attached. There shouldn't be any changes now - the timetable may run slightly ahead of schedule or behind depending on how things go on the day so athletes need to turn up in plenty of time so they don't miss their event and make sure they listen to the tannoy / keep an eye on the competition. Sprints and sprint hurdles in junior and inter age groups will have heats and finals so athletes need to be prepared for staying if they are successful.

Athletes should check in to their district representative in the stand and collect their vest and numbers. They should go to the start of their event at least 10minutes prior so they can be checked in / warm up. Athletes should be providing safety pins and should not be wearing club kit. Programmes will be available for purchase on the day in the box.

If athletes come in the top 3 in their event they will be invited into the centre of the track - gazebo by the podium to receive their medal. They will also need to bring a device or parent with a device in order to complete a google form there and then. (This is the only time that they should have a device on the infield / track) This is for consideration for the team for English schools. This does not mean they get into the team but just gives us their contact details so once we have chosen the team they can be contacted.

The Berkshire Schools Track and Field Championships for those in year 8 to 13 will be held on Saturday 8th June at Palmer Park in Reading. (The U13 champs for those in year 7 will be on Thursday 27th June) The only way for athletes to compete at this competition is to qualify through their districts. Each district can select up to 2 athletes per gender per event to compete at this competition. Each district will have their own methods for qualifying. Most do hold district championships which also double up as selection competitions. You will need to make sure that you have followed these methods of qualification through your area district. You can only compete in 1 event at these championships and should be your strongest that you wish to compete in at English Schools if you qualify
