Road Running

My name is Denise and I am a member of Finch Coasters. 

For the road running championship, 5 races have been nominated covering a variety of different distances over the calender year. These races will range from 10k to marathon.  For each race, medals will be awarded for the first three finishers in each age and sex category, with points also awarded for the overall Championship Trophy which is awarded each Novmeber at the County AGM.

For the points championship, and this is new for 2023, your top 4 results will count (from a possible 5 races).

In order to keep this interesting, at least one of the races will be replaced each year. Having different races and distances each year, and the option to do 4 from 5, will hopefully make these Championships more inclusive. The races chosen will all be in Berkshire.

Entries open on January 1st 2023.

Berkshire Team at the Southern Intercounties Invitational Essex 20 mile road race

On a very windy day, just one step ahead of Storm Freya the Berkshire team faced stiff competition from the fastest endurance runners in the South. The men's team came 8th, led home by Tom Easton (in 40th) and the ladies team (who all had to score due to illness and injury), came 5th led home by Becky Atkinson (12th lady).

Well done everyone.

**Introduction of a new F65 category for ladies 65 years and older**

Races chosen are:

Wokingham Half Marathon, Sunday February 24th 

Maidenhead 10 miles, Friday April 19th 

Burnham Beeches 10K, Sunday August 11th

Marlow 5 miles, Sunday May12th

 

How to enter?

The championships are open to ANYONE and EVERYONE who either lives or was born in Berkshire. 

1. Enter the races as normal with the race organisers.

Many thanks to all the road runners who made it along to the AGM last night. Its been a great year, with 151 local runners entering the Championships this year and with 128 medals and 8 Trophys spread amongst 49 runners across 10 different clubs, lots to celebrate.

For those that didn't make it, the Trophys (for most points awarded across all 4 races) went to:

STOP PRESS: Exciting Opportunity to represent Berkshire County in Road Running.

Sussex County AA is introducing an inter counties representative match at the Brighton 10K, November 18th. https://thebrighton10k.com/

A Berkshire team will be selected and will compete against teams from at least 8 other Southern Counties. Each county will field a team of 8 athletes (4M and 4F) and this is open to ALL U20, Senior and Vet category runners (Must be at least 17 on race day).
